What is ITIL?
ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) is a framework for IT Service Management. It is arguably the most commonly used methodology for the design, development, maintenance and delivery of IT Services in the modern business envirnonment. Knowledge of the ITIL framework is considered to be the commonly accepted entry level qualification for IT Professionals.
ITIL is basically a series of books containing guidance, process descriptions and possible technology implementations to support the framework.
As of July 2011 the current version of the ITIL framework is called ITIL 2011.
The certification program follows a three-layer structure:
1. Foundation
2. Intermediate
3. Advanced - Managing Across the Lifecycle
The education programs should be delivered by Accredited Training Organisations. The Art of Service is accredited for ALL ITIL training programs with CSME (US based) and Loyalist Certification Services (Canada).
