This book and related online video series is the fasted and the most inexpensive way to prepare for the certification. I primarily watched the video series. Watched them twice and finished the quiz and the mock exam. Online videos cover all the topics required for the exam. I only referred the book when I was stuck at a particular question. Skimmed through the book once, primarily studied with help of the video series.

This study guide is a good material for ITIL v3 examination preparation. The book's content is easily understand and fully cover the whole examination area. ALso, the books have many diagram and picture to explain some complicated concepts.

I read the books around 2 times and their eLearning resources, and passed the exam last two weeks. Now, I am going to prepare the intermediate level now.

The books is one of my recommendation on ITIL v3 Foundation self-studying.

This book and the elearning program is probably the best resource to help you pass the exam. The book needs some refinement and structural changes as suggested by other commentators. It feels as if it was put together in a hurry to beat the competition ;) But I will still give it 5 stars just for the elearning program. It is very engaging and helps grasp the concepts quicker.

I would recommend to start learning from the elearning program followed by the book to make it more interesting and easier to grasp.

When I first received this book, I thought it should be at least an inch thick. Turned out it is a slim book and easy to read. The topics are well organized with sufficient charts to help you learn the materials quickly. It could be a bit dry if you keep reading for hours. However, once I discovered that this book comes with the eLearning for 3 months, the study became much more fun and interactive. The eLearning guides you through the entire Foundation curriculum. What I want to say is:

**** reading of this book is completely ENOUGH to pass foundation exam. No other books I read. ****

As mentioned by other authors it contain several mistakes and a lot of typos, if you want ideal book - print official OCG books, if you want to PASS THE EXAM - take this one.

Exam contains quite simple questions, probably one or two of them where out of scope of this book. If you buy book with sample tests you will find half of questions out of scope of this book, but they don't have any relation to the Foundation exam. It's really quite easy and this books covers it. This product was much cheaper than most that I looked at so I was a bit skeptical about the results, however as stated I recieved a 90 on my ITIL V3 Foundations Exam. I think the online course was great, and between the book and the online course most aspects needed are covered. I will use their products going forward for my future exam needs. This book was recommended to me by an ITIL consultant.

When I first thumbed through the book I was concerned that I had made the wrong decision. It is not your typical Sybex, McGraw-Hill or other high-end technical publication. The graphics in the book were in black and white only, the font was too large and looked more like a handout you would receive at a trade show.

However, once I taped into the online course and the associated community any concerns I had about the paper copy was gone.

The Art of Service team has created a great set of online resources to help prospective ITIL professionals gain the knowledge necessary to learn, understand and become a proficient IT Service Manager. Using only the book, online course, online forums and provided exam prep questions I was able to learn ITIL and pass my v3 Foundations exam in less than 4 weeks!

Furthermore online instructor Tim Malone not only created a great online class, but continues to update the content revisions are needed, and does an excellent job moderating the user forums (even offering prizes for highest passing monthly score!).

I did purchase other ITIL resources for my preparation, but they all seemed to read like "stereo instructions" or too much theory no practical advise. This book (and related online material) is for real world individuals!

Overall I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about ITIL v3, and would make it the only choice for the ITIL v3 foundations exam prep.

This was a great resource while I was studying for the ITIL v3 exam. I had taken it trying the online study guides, but they are littered with errors and I ultimately fail my first attempt. I read all of the reviews for this kit and was a little nervous after seeing some of the negative reviews. I couldn't ignore the price and decided to try it. After reading the content a few times I logged on to the online content and started taking the practice exams. I was surprised at how close they were to the questions I remembered from the original exam. I felt like I had made a good decision on my purchase. Once I was getting 95-100% on all of the practice exams, I read through the material again. Then I decided to take the real EXIN exam. I ended up getting an 85% because they are very clever about the wording of the exam, but I PASSED!!!! I definitely think that you have to put time into studying if you want to pass. This kit has definitely helped me with what I wanted: through self-study pass the ITIL Foundations exam. I was prepared well enough through the kit's online program with little time. Best alternative to expensive classroom-setting courses (where 9 out of 10 times the instructor repeats what in the course material anyway).

Bought this book to complement my study for the ITIL v3 Foundation exam. The book follows the ITIL lifecycle, as one would expect. It is a condensed version that cuts to the chase and reduces the learning time by many hours while giving you enough information to pass the exam.

And there is the point of this book. If you are learning ITIL for the first time, this book is a good introduction to the subject and will most likely get you thru the exam, but it will not go far enough for you to 'know' ITIL v3. For that you will need to go back to the OGC books.

So this book has a specific target, and it does hit its intended mark very well.

In addition, the online content is a nice bonus with the practice exams being very helpful.

Would have preferred more practice questions both in the book and online as the 10 per section provided only really give you an idea of what the real exam would be like and does not actually test your knowledge of what was studied.

This book gives you what you need to know to (1) understand ITIL & (2) to pass the exam. The exam that comes with the kit (have to log into site to retrieve) is an actual exam & the questions on there were on my exam too. Read the book, do the practice questions, and the exam & you will be in good shape for the real exam. When I was ready to take the real exam, it only took me 20 minutes to complete. Good luck! I bought this book a couple of months ago. I've already read through it and worked through the online materials. I've already done a few mock tests and feel confident to book my exam. I'll probably book my exam this week and just run back over the online materials for revision.

There's also a good sized online comunity on their web site. Some users will find this interaction with others helpful.

Anyone who already works in IT Support or Systems development will recognise a lot of the concepts detailed on the course. But I think its good to have your experience brought together as a formal qualification.

I would definitely reccomend this as a purchase.

Purchased the Official OGC Foundation Exam Study Book and this Self Study book/online course to study for a ITIL v3 Foundation exam which I booked in 2 weeks time.

Used the combination of OGC book and Self Study to grasp the vocabulary and terms/definitions which are required to pass the exam (previously held a v1 ITIL Foundation cert).

I Downloaded sample exams and completed 4x sets of 40 odd questions to get a grasp of what examiners will be looking for - improving from a set of dismal results to close to 100 using the two books.

Would recommend this book as a very concise and useful reference/perspective of official terms (didnt have time to use online resource) against the official OGC study book to pass the exam - which i did with over 90%!

Service Terms, ITIL Definitions & meanings across all 5 x books - e.g. Deming, Values would be useful pointers to consider if you are looking to undertake the ITIL v3 Foundation if you have some basic Service understanding.

This ITIL v3 kit includes both the book and 3 months of access to online, narrated videos that cover the same material. The book covers the material in a bit more detail, but I found the videos to be a great help. I watched the videos first and then followed up by reading through the corresponding chapter to fill in a few holes. There are also end-of-chapter review questions and practice tests included. This is a good book that includes access to online training via Art of Service Website. You get two ways to study, the book, and the online lectures and quizzes. I had no previous experience of ITIL before I took the exam, without this guide I would have found it extremely difficult. It really helps to have some understanding beforehand, the on line tutorial was partiularly useful, I referred to this over and over again. I passsed my exam with 83%. (Posted on 10/29/10)

The actual course book that I brought on Amazon was superseded by a third edition version which the Art of Service made available on their ITIL V3 course resource web page. I found this course a very good learning tool and the online presentations and voice commentary very clear to follow using course study book (third edition).

There were review questions for each module quiz, very useful in assessing my understanding of the module material covered.

Course was further enhanced by the online forums with discussions where fellow students could post questions and discuss the different aspects of the course material and how best to prepare for the exam. Tim Malone, a member of the course team was great moderating the forums and responded to emails and online postings fairly promptly (allowing for time differences, time zones).

I am now at the `preparing for exam' stage and will use (i) sample exam paper provided on resources web page, (ii) forum with discussions about the exam, where students who have already taken and pass their exams has posted useful exam preparation tips.

If you are disciplined and can allocate time for eLearning and online training, I recommend you try this course. I am happy with the course and I have the resources to build on my learning experience.

I found both the book and accompanying online course to be well written, well presented, accurate, and very digestible. I would recommend this package for anyone wanting to prepare for the ITIL V3 Foundations exam, and think that this is a better route than the multi-day day live training courses. I appreciated having more time to digest this info. BTW, I just took the exam and passed easily (96). I received this book and began to read it. Not only is it intuitive but the great detail it gives in assisting you passing the test is a great addition. Test questions included as well as an online e-learning makes it a great book to have. Great Flash presentations and real world scenarios. The ONLY reason I gave it a 4 star is because I have not taken the test yet. Has helped me understand the concepts and the methods of ITIL processes. This is a great kit if you want to pass the ITIL V3 Foundation Exam. I went through the book, answered all review questions and watched all the on-line presentations. The result was 90% in the exam.

The on-line content access that comes with the book was actually the best way to study for the Foundations exam. Buyers are encouraged however to use both sources (the book and the website) as they cover topics from slightly different angles and to different degrees of detail. The quizzes for each online module are a great way to verify your understanding. The book's summary questions are a bit unorganized, likely from a reorganization of the content in this revision. It's a great combination to learn ITIL V3 Foundation and to be prepared for the final exam.
The book is informative, clear, with the most important definitions and topics to remember. It can be use with the online course as an offline quick reference.
The online course (you must have a working internet connection)is very detailed and well-structured, easy to understand also for non-native English speakers.
Slides are concise and the speaker is clear. Questions at the end of main chapters are helpful to remember concepts and definition.
It's a good product from real experts, I'm really glad to have bought it.

I considered all the other alternatives available before buying this kit based on the customer reviews and I'm glad that I did. The book has all the pertinent information and is to the point in terms of covering all the content for the ITIL V3 Foundation Exam. Though I think it could use some colored print and graphics but I suppose they're trying to keep the cost low. What REALLY helped was the online course and practice questions.

I studied for 3-4 weeks on and off, periodically spending a couple of hours. Went through the online course twice, read the book once carefully and then browsed it quickly. I also practiced 5-6 sample exams that are easily available online if you google it. And I passed the exam with 92% score.

I went through the online course before I read the book. I will definitely recommend this kit for Foundation exam and I'll probably go with these people if I choose to go for advanced ITIL Certification.

I purchased this kit as I wanted to try something that was low cost and was sceptical that for the price, this would deliver. I found though that this is great value, provides you all the necessary information including an internet based course as well! Very pleased - all I did was supplement the material by creating mind maps for each of the main areas of study and voila, studied on and off for 2 weeks, booked the exam and passed with 90% - I am over the moon - so this worked perfectly for me and I would reccommend this package to anyone wishing to study and pass the foundation. I found the content of the online course to be top-notch. Following the advice of someone who reviewed this product previously, I started with the online course, and repeated the process twice more, then I read the booklet provided to reinforce the learning. After having done so over the course of 2 weeks, I took the exam at a Prometric Center and passed with an 85( 65 is the passing grade). Considering that an ITIL Learning Center near me (New Jersey, US) was aksing $1,500.00 for this course, and that I paid less than $80.00 for the booklet on Amazon (which allowed me to follow the online course over the Internet), I would say this was a very good investment and the content and presentation of the online course to be excellent. I was less impressed with the booklet itself, but the combination of the two led me to pass this exam on my first attempt.
I would recommend this Toolkit to anyone interested in pursuing ITIL V3 Foundation Certification.

This book and online course provides everything you need to complete your ITIL V3 Foundation certification. Before taking the course, I had not received any formal ITIL training and I scored a 37/40 on the examination. I am very very pleased.

I recommend taking the course before reading the book. Be sure to complete all sample tests and use the book as a study guide before taking the test.

As other reviewers have pointed out, the online course provides excellent coverage of the material required to undertake the ITIL V3 Foundation certification test. This material is well presented in a clear and easily digested manner. However, I would also point out that the accompanying book provides additional pieces of easy to find information that helps in answering review questions for specific topics not necessarily covered online. The book is also very easy to read.

There is no better way that I know of to simply and easily prepare for the ITIL V3 Foundation exam and Certification.

I spent a number of years reading up on ITIL and I'm so glad I finally took this course. The way it is done online is great (I love the naration so it doesn't take as much reading). The content is spot on and really gets you ready for the exam. Since it is low cost (MUCH lower than other options) I was able to save money for other priorities. I think we are going to use this across all of our team members at our Firm.

I`m just preparing for my ITIL exam. I`ve been a project manager for more than 4 years and reading it I`ve found now my eyes wide open. Here I`ve found all of the things for organization, stages, processes, people involved and relations/responsibilities of the projects that I have to discover myself in the past, and all of this in a complete framework that can be applied not only to IT projects, but to the LIFE itself. I found The Art of Service book/online training kit to be a very cost-effective way to learn ITIL v3 Foundation basics. With training dollars tight, my company strongly preferred this approach to a traditional class. I found the course easy to follow -- much more so than a book alone -- and passed the exam with high marks. I focused primarily on the online course but followed along in the book. I also took an online sample exam from another website to supplement the practice questions provided.

I was very pleased that as part of the online content, a free pdf download is available of the latest version of the text. My company inadvertently ordered an earlier version, which is easy to do since the numbering scheme is not consistent (white cover is 2008, "2009 Edition" is 2009, "Third Edition" is early 2010, and an even later version of the Third Edition is available online-only due to an ITIL syllabus change in May 2010). With the online text, I was able to easily ensure I was studying only from the appropriate edition.

Additional tips:
* Please note that earlier editions of the book are not as robust. I originally hesitated to order this course based on reviews describing the text as more a study guide than a book, but the version I studied from is now 256 pages and fully covered the material needed.

* Please note that in order to get a supporting certificate for project management ongoing credential maintenance (18 PDUs), you do need to take and pass the Foundation exam at an additional fee.

Having searched for weeks looking for a cost effective means of studying for my ITIL V3 Foundation I stumbled across this course.

I really enjoyed the quality online presentations which were very clear and concise and which I referred back to quite few times so that it sunk in. With the assistance of some practice tests I found online I passed my exam with a score of 87.

I would recommend this course of study highly and I am now considering doing the Intermediate courses they offer.

Bought the book simply because I wanted to pass the ITIL exam and for this reason I was looking for material that didn't cost a fortune and wasn't drivel. Happy to say that the book is indeed value for money and combination of online material - which included quizzes, was spot on. Highly recommended .... ps passed the exam first time out with 92% ! I was quite underwhelmed when the book turned up - it certainly didn't seem much for my money (GBP 47.00). However, the real value is in the online tutorials when used in conjunction with the book. Once my ears got used to the American accents and terminology, I progressed quite quickly through the coursework.
I would suggest that you do the included test first, before you even read any other page. This way, you can identify what you do and don't know already and pay more attention to the relevant sections. ITIL, like Prince project management method, is frequently just a case of assigning names to activities and ideas that you may already understand and do every day in your job.

I'm yet to actually sit the foundation exam, (it is booked!) but I am confident that I have done as much as I need to pass. In addition to the included test, I have tried several online tests questions and done well enough.

I thoroughly recommend this item!

I was familiar with ITIL buzzwords (Incident, Problem, RFC) and wanted to take my knowledge to the next level because we were implementing a new Help Desk solution that was Pink Elephant certified. I read the existing reviews, purchased the book, read it three times, listened to the excellent web based videos you're granted access to, did the practice exams a few times, took the test, and easily passed. I took a course online (SkillSets Online), provided through my employer, and the content delivery was terrible. As the result, I purchased this study guide on my own. I used the online course and the study guide and passed on the first time! Frankly, I could have spent much more time on this (I spent four days studying) and received a higher mark, but the pass is what mattered and these materials got it done for me. (Posted on 10/26/10)

This book is very well organized and very simple to understand.
If you are trying to get ITIL V3 certification, you don't look any further. This book is complete and one stop point for getting the ITIL certification. I read this book for one week (<30 hrs) and was able to clear that with over 90%.

I wanted to obtain the ITIL V3 Foundation certification. After carefully researching various books, I finally decided to buy this one - and what a great decision that was!

The book also gives you access to various resources on their website. To my surprise, I found that they had video reviews of each chapter and sample questions! This was hugely helpful in my studying. After I read a chapter, I would then watch the video to help remember all the information I read (like reading a chapter and going to class!). Then I did the sample questions. After only 2 weeks of studying (about a couple hours a day), I wrote my exam and passed!

The ITIL V3 Foundation Certification Kit from The Art of Service was everything I needed to study for and pass the V3 Foundation certification exam. I read the book and then went through the presentations provided on their website, taking some additional notes. If you answer the questions at the end of each chapter in the book and complete the quiz at the end of each module in the web based presentations, you should have no problem passing the exam. They also provide a sample exam to help you gauge your level of preparation for the exam. This is a great study guide and online learning product. The book and the online learning program work well together. The online learning worked without any downloads and was very easy to navigate and get back to. This ITIL Foundations course is the best I've found. In preparing for the Foundations exam, I read other books and even took a different course provided by my employer before finding this course. The books and other course did not leave me feeling prepared to take the exam. 2: take the online course
3: take the online short test
4: read the book for review
This book offers you the minimum resources to let you pass the exam. If you really want to learn the depth of ITIL, then this book can be a good start. For any purposes, this book should be helpful for all the ITIL novice readers.
