I am a PMP and wanted to see what ITIL has to offer and found out both to be complimentay to each other. I have been studying it and I am getting ready to take the test … and it took a little less then 4 weeks.I study longer then most people do but this book not only used the techical terms that are needed but it put it in real world steps so that you can understand it so much better…well all I have to say is hat’s off to you guys for createing this book and Elearning program, it is the best so far that I have found.
Terrific Preparation Option for the Exam, August 9, By Mark R. Sherman (Elk Grove Village, IL United States) The certification kit (book and online course) were the only materials I used to prepare for the exam and passed with 85%. Total study time was about 20 hours over 10 days. The material is well organized, to the point, and I enjoyed the Australian accents and sense of humor of the instructors. Couple of things to know if you plan on using a like approach to prep for the exam: (1) The book mentions an enrolment key that you will receive via email when setting up your account. I received the email but not the key. I then emailed The Art of Service support team ([...]) and received a response from them in less than an hour that I had now been properly set up, which I was. So, big thumbs up! for their responsive, effective customer service. (2) Also, though the book covers the ITIL roles quite well, they aren’t mentioned much, if at all, in the online program. As a result, the majority of the questions I missed were the result of shortchanging my review of the written material in this area. My recommendation then is to not make the same mistake I did and be sure to give appropriate study time to the Roles and Responsibilities sections within the written material. All in all, I thought this was a great, cost effective option to prepare for the exam that I recommend without any reservation.

ITIL V3 Foundation Complete Certification Kit, October 15, By Chris (Harrisburg, PA USA) I am new to the ITIL concepts and although I had previously heard of the various components of ITIL and read on the topic to some degree in previous years, I was certainly not conversant with ITIL overall or with the specifics of any of the ITIL components. I decided that perhaps understanding the ITIL Foundation would be a good place to start.After searching the internet, looking for up todate material (V3), I came across the ITIL V3 Foundation Complete Certification Kit and, as it was reasonably priced, included both a book (Study Guide) as well as access to supporting learning software, I ordered the product.Upon receiving the material and accessing the Learning Software (over the weekend and easy to access) I am very impressed with the overall purchase. The access to the software is to me the most impressive component but having the book available for offline review (on trains or buses) is a definite plus. I am definitely recommending this product both as a place to start as well as a valuable reference for the future not to mention a very cost effective approach to learning about ITIL.I will definitely be looking to the product organization in the future for other areas of education related to ITIL and perhaps other topics they may be involved with.

When I was looking for a book to read on the ITIL V3 Foundation Certification, this book had the most positive reviews and I bought it solely for that reason. I work in IT but I have never really understood the ITSM framework and through this book I have achieved that. I’ll be taking the exam sometime in November and my goal is to pass it at one sitting.

Well rounded solution for learning as well as passing the ITIL v3 Foundatoin Certification, October 14, By Jonathan Dsouza (Dallas, TX USA) After much researching I had decided to go ahead and purchased the Art of Service training book and e-learning module. Not only was I extremely happy with this product but I also passed my certification exam with a 90%.After reading many of the reviews that were on here I decided to use the book and the e-learning module which consists of flash based power point slides in conjunction with each other.I would make flash cards for the really important points and since they were broken into 5 modules I ended with 5 piles of flash cards. After studying and making flash cards for about two weeks I spent about another half a week just reviewing the flash cards.Went to take the exam and finished the hour long exam in about half an hour.What’s great about the Online learning is that the slides are accompanied by the instructor who lectures to the slides. He doesn’t just repeat word for word what’s already on the slide but gives his own input on different concepts. Somewhere around half way through there is a lady who starts to narrate the slides but all she does is just read what’s already on them. I can do that too. But then right before the end the guy gets back on and its a good wrap to a really informative class.The book is designed to give you a very high level understanding of the ITIL concepts as is the exam designed to do.I would recommend this to anyone looking to learn about ITIL or also study to get their ITIL certification.

There is some material that is only covered on the CBT materials, and some that is only included in the book. The two taken together comprises a comprehensive review. I would have liked to be able to download the excellent diagrams and charts that are discusses in the CBT, but there seemed to be no way. So I took screen shots, which worked adaquately for my needs. BTW, the commentator’s voice in the presentation was very pleasant, and the production level was excellent.

The objective of the book/online course is to help the reader prepare for and pass the ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management exam (BH0-006). The material covers the topics in sufficient detail to not only effectively understand ITIL foundation concepts but to also successfully pass the exam. No need to purchase additional books and or test simulators with this kit. I previously had glanced over some like materials from another provider but they were not as cleanly organized making that courseware a much more difficult read. Such is NOT the case with the AoS course; they really have organized the material nicely. The practice exams are also quite helpful in providing a good level set as one progresses by section. I passed the exam with 85% breezing through the test in 20 minutes with almost an hour to spare. I felt I was amply prepared for the exam. What worked for me was to read the book twice and to take notes on 3×5 cards while watching the videos. A good value and well worth the price. GOOD LUCK!!!!
Great book and online course to pass the ITIL V3 Foundation Exam, October 6, By K. Both the book and the course provide comprehensive material and preparation study to pass the ITIL V3 Foundation Exam. I passed the Exam after studying with the material you see here. There were probably only 1 or 2 questions in the exam that were not covered in this material which is not a big deal. Take your time to learn the contents of this course and do all the end of chapter quizzes and sample exam. If you follow their methods you will pass the exam and have a good understanding of the basics of ITIL.

Each chapter covers the material in an easy to understand way. Then you add in the online presentation for the chapter followed by a short quiz. Luu For a predominantly technical oriented person who previously had limited knowledge of ITIL, this was all the material I needed to use to successfully pass my foundation exam. The concepts were well explained in an easy to understand format with examples where applicable. This helped me relate the theory to existing practices in my workplace, which facilitated understanding rather than simply memorising the content.The real advantage of this kit is the ability to study at your own pace in your own time with the online content. The book provides additional material to reinforce the content discussed from the online material and is useful for a quick review. However without going through the online course and prior knowledge of ITIL, the book will not be of much use.

Dudman Increasingly IT job adverts specifiy the ITIL Foundation qualification as a requirement and this seemed to me to be the most cost-effective and flexible way to achieve the qualification.I have not yet studied the whole course, however I find the online approach with forums, quizzes and ‘lessons’ very helpful backed up by the study guide book.I find it useful to have a deadline by which my online enrolment will cease as this focuses my study towards sitting the exam; however it also allows me to arrange the exam at a time convenient to me – especially important as I am going to have to travel 100s of miles to a test centre.Obviously the proof will be in the pudding (or the exam result), but definitely so far so good.

Very Effective ITIL V3 Foundation training, September 10, By DBA_Mike (Washington, DC) I found the Art of Service’s “ITIL V3 Foundation Complete Certification Kit – Edition” to be an effective study tool for the ITIL V3 Foundation certification exam. The kit includes a 168 page (minus the index) book, and access to a online course. The included material covers everything you need to easily pass the exam. Without any previous exposure to ITIL, I studied about 24 hours over a 10 day period and easily passed the exam.I do have a minor grievance. The audio for some sections of the online course has booming bass and popping highs. I had to turn off the bass on my PC sound system to minimize it.It also took me a short while to adjust to the Australian accent, particularly words like “data” and “process”. It’s not that I couldn’t understand the words, but that the pronunciations were mildly distracting at first.Overall, this was an excellent package that I rate 4.5.

To get 100% on exam or to get more knowledge, you may need to study more books. But just to pass V3 Foundation exam with flying colors, reading this book is just fine. This book works as a reference (principle text book) and contains most of what is asked on the exam. The Art of Service has done a great job. Great ROI both on money and time counts.
Highly Recommend, August 11, By Macy Frank I am pleased to say that I passed the V3 Foundation exam after using both the textbook and online course. I would read a lesson, take notes, then take the online lesson, add to my notes, and then create flashcards for the key points. Each night I would review my flashcards – doing a comprehensive review of the material. It took me 3 weeks to complete the entire course and by the time I finished the book I really comprehended all the content. After completing The Art of Service course it was as though the content was second nature to me.When I went to take the exam I finished in 20 minutes and passed with flying colors! I went into the exam feeling very confident and prepared. I have to say the book and on-line course really made a difference for me. The examples provided really helped to reinforce the content and the content was arranged in a very logical and easy-to-follow manner. Decided to go the self-study route and purchased this package. It does exactly what it says. Read the book, follow the online course, do all the quizzes and exercises, and you’ll pass the exam. I also found some helpful free websites on the net ([...]). Glancing through the free resources I found it doesn’t cover everything, but it covers more than enough to pass. All told I spent four days studying then took the course and got 90 odd percent.

The material presented is in a simple, easy to read format. After reading the book and taking The Art of Service eLearning course I successfully passed the examination without any problem. Not that classes and sharing with others in a class is not helpful, but this book and the online material, together with the online discussions are probably (have not taken the class) as good if not better. And, for the money, A DEAL THAT CAN’T BE BEAT!!! So, if you, like the rest of the world these days, are on a tight budget, you must consider this book and web material for your certification needs. If you have the money, do both!!! I know that this will properly prepare me for the certification exam. The Art of Service has created a great product and “service” regarding ITIL V3 – buy it but then spend the time to master the content!!

The workbook & downloadable material I even use for reference and implementation on the job. Excellent resource for test prep & for future reference. I was so impressed I’ve signed up for another ITIL related course. My hat goes off to “The Art of Service” for producing such a high quality training product for such an unbelievably affordable price!

The text is of superior standards in terms of readability in comparison to other texts on the subject (ITIL texts tend to read a little on the dry side).For ITIL practitioners… In my experience, ITIL texts seem to fall into a highly managerial category. Tim Malone,Ivanka Menken and Gerard Blokdijk do a fair job of plotting a course. The text is accompanied with ample resources, including a website with slideshows, notes, outlines, and various other pedagogical tools. The testbank is easy to use, but can be somewhat challenging for an freshman and contains enough “difficult” questions that you should be able to use . Gerard Blokdijk has also done a fair job of keeping the material up-to-date, which has resulted, after multiple editions, in a pretty decent product.

I used alongside my 3 day V3 course and was getting on average 10+ more correct answers on the mocks than some of the other attendees – 36/40 avg. Well, that and 20+ years experience. But I guess that’s the point. If you are an experienced IT professional, this kit helps you apply your real-world knowledge to the ITIL concepts. I took about three weeks to go through the book and online course chapter by chapter, taking notes all the way and mentally applying concepts to situations I had seen in the past. I took the chapter quizzes and the sample exam at the end. I sat for the real exam last Friday and passed with a 92%. If you are serious about putting in the study time, this kit will serve you well.

The online course which “roughly” follows the text is well done. I note that it “roughly” follows the text because the online course was recently upgraded to reflect upgrades to the ITIL v3 test’s coverage. (A few processes were removed from the test’s requirements.)Response time from “The Art of Service” personnel was VERY quick.I passed the test on a first try by studying for three weeks prior to the test date. This book and the online course should be all you need to pass the test.

Having done my fair share of book only self study I was very impressed with the course book content and structure. Both were followed closely by the online course with good clear narration delivered in a relaxed tone with just the right stress on important points.
