User Research Case Study/Use Case example - How to use:

    Synopsis:
The client, a consumer goods company, specializes in the production and distribution of home cleaning products. In an effort to expand their market share, the client has developed a new, more environmentally friendly cleaning product. However, they are unsure of how successful this new offering will be and are seeking to gain insight into how many potential users have yet to be sold on the product.

In order to address this question, our consulting firm was hired to conduct user research and provide recommendations for the client based on the findings.

    Consulting Methodology:
Our methodology for this project consisted of three phases: research planning, data collection, and analysis and recommendations.

Research Planning: The first step was to design a research plan that would best answer the client′s question. This involved conducting a review of existing market research reports related to the client′s industry and target market. Based on this review, we determined that a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods would be the most effective approach.

Data Collection: The second phase involved collecting data from potential users of the new offering. This included both primary and secondary research methods. Primary research methods included in-depth interviews and focus groups with potential users to gather their thoughts, opinions, and attitudes towards the new product. Secondary research methods included analyzing demographic data and consumer behavior trends within the target market.

Analysis and Recommendations: The final phase involved analyzing the data collected and developing recommendations for the client. This included identifying key insights from the research, determining the market potential for the new offering, and providing recommendations for how the client can reach the untapped potential users.

    Deliverables:
Our deliverables for this project included a detailed research report, presentation of key findings and recommendations, and a strategic action plan for the client. The research report included a summary of the research methodology, detailed analysis of the data collected, and key insights and recommendations for the client. The presentation and action plan provided a more concise overview of the findings and recommendations, highlighting key actionable steps for the client to implement.

    Implementation Challenges:
One of the main challenges faced during this project was identifying and recruiting potential users for the research. As the new offering had not yet been launched, it was difficult to reach out to potential users. Therefore, we had to rely on secondary research methods and targeted recruitment efforts to reach a diverse group of potential users.

Another challenge was ensuring the credibility and validity of the data collected. To address this, we used multiple data collection methods and cross-checked the findings to ensure accuracy and consistency.

    KPIs:
The key performance indicators (KPIs) for this project included the number of potential users identified, the level of interest and receptiveness towards the new offering, and projected market potential based on the research findings. These KPIs would provide a clear understanding of how many potential users have yet to be sold on the new product and the potential for growth in the market.

    Management Considerations:
It is important for the client to consider the recommendations provided and implement them in a timely manner to capitalize on the market potential identified. This may involve adjusting their marketing strategies, product positioning, and messaging to target the untapped potential users. Regular monitoring and tracking of the KPIs will also be essential in measuring the success of the implementation.
